dear yj and lok fandoms
this is just a poll
JUST a poll
and you’re all starting to make it not fun. thanks.
But it’s not. I read your tags. I’ve had shows die before and I am going to do everything in my power to keep YJ from getting fridged.
Ok, let’s get some things straight.
The ending of Korra was rushed and I get that. They only had 14 episodes and they could have managed their time better, but I do think that it was a good way to close the season.
Now, everyone that I’ve seen is bitching about how all that Korra does is pouts on a cliff because she lost her bending while Asami is being strong after the greatest betrayal of her life and everyone else is suffering major trauma of some kind, except for Mako (because 90% of the fandom thinks that Mako should go die, for some reason.)
But, did anyone ever stop and think about this from Korra’s point of view? Sure, she’s the Avatar, she’s kind of got it made. However, she did have her bending taken away.
Has anyone thought of what having her bending taken away would do to her? She doesn’t feel worthy of anyone anymore.
She failed. Everyone.
Korra is going to that cliff not to mope, but to commit suicide. She is going to throw herself off that cliff into the sub zero water of the south pole and let herself freeze or drown. Korra sees herself as worthless and non deserving, so why not just kill herself so that the new Avatar will be born and will maybe do a better job. That is why Aang says “When we are at our lowest point we are open to the greatest change.” Is there a lower point than wanting and being willing to take your own life?
Contrary to popular opinion, I like this show.
I think that Bryke did a wonderful job writing it, and I like it better than the first series.
To all of you people who are like “Wow. Thanks for ruining my childhood Bryke. The show pacing is off and I am entitled to better writing. Mako’s such a douche because Asami needs him and Korra doesn’t. Oh, five minutes and Korra’s got her bending back. It should have been harder:”
One, it’s better than The Last Airbender
Two, it’s a mini series. 12 episodes to get an entire story across instead of three years like they had for the last series.
Three, season two wasn’t greenlit until recently They’ve only got like three out o fourteen episodes finished.
Four, all of you are NOT entitled to “better writing.” Be thankful you have a second series to watch, because you sure don’t deserve it with the way you’re talking about the people that created the freaking show.
Five, if the fandom explodes about Mako and gives all of the people who like him hate, just don’t.
Six, you know how that one episode of ATLA with Iroh celebrating his dead son’s birthday made everyone cry, and then how it was dedicated to his voice actor because the actor died before the series was finished? The voice actor’s name is Mako. The male lead of LoK’s name is Mako. This is a character that we are supposed to honor.
Seven, I should just stop talking because I’m really angry right now. Just stop the hate, and be grateful there IS a LoK.
