My Art

Am I the only one who felt bad for Tahno here? Sure, he’s a first class a-hole, but just look at how desperate he is. Bending is all he’s got, all he’s EVER HAD, that makes him special, and Amon is going to take that away. Tahno’s a nobody without his bending, in fact, I bet he has similar origins to Mako and Bolin.

Honestly, I wanted to see him break down after climbing out of the water. It would have made his character so much more real and relatable. I hope that Bryke does something else with his character and doesn’t just leave him hang. Even though he is a Jerkbender, he deserves closure.

In other news, I figured out how the bending removal works.

Remember how in that one episode with the Guru (I think it was called, “The Guru”), Mr. Guru explains all about Chakras to Aang. I don’t particularly remember what The Brow Chakra symbolizes with bending, but after some quick research I found that this Chakra controls the pineal gland, which regulates melatonin, the hormone that makes you want to sleep/wake up. What if bending is semi-controlled by melatonin? Staunching the flow of any hormone, even remotely, causes the body to become unbalanced.

I understand that it’s “Chi-Blocking” but even that has a scientific explanation. When pressure is applied to certain spots on the body, those nerves become numb and don’t transmit signals like they should, thus causing a limb to go numb. The scientific explanation for taking away someone’s bending is “numbing” just a tiny bit of the pineal gland.
